Tech washed and serviced unit and found evaporator coil have have surface rust starting to form but no leaks at this time tech recommended hard start kit customer is interested but wants to wait till next visit. Tech found low suction in heat and AC modes due to a leaking evaporator coil. Tech was able to pinpoint 2 leaks in the coil joints and recorded leaks. Coil will need to be replaced.
Upon arrival tech turned thermostat to ac and found unit short cycling. Tech washed and serviced unit. Customer would like us to comeback tomorrow.

Tech found 17 year old Lennox package heat pump in a low pressure lockout. Tried to clear lockout with a power cycle, but 60 amp heat strip breaker will not reset. It is old and has failed. Tech replaced breaker for testing purposes and got 240 volts from new breaker. After clearing lockout, system came on in cooling mode after time delay. Tech let system stabilize and found system 1-2 lbs low on refrigerant. Tech swept indoor coil and found indoor coil leaking. See video. Compressor megged green. Bryce is running mandatory. Bryce is checking on financing for her on Monday. Customer could not afford breaker today. Tech left system down. Collected housecall.
Performed routine maintenance per energy savings agreement. Technician found the system to be cooling properly and holding a delta t of 20 degrees. Concerns - the evaporator coil in the system is very rusty. Tech did a thorough leak search and was unable to come up with anything. The delta t is within spec so it does not appear the rust is affecting performance at this time. Will need to monitor this going forward. Technician also found the dual run capacitor testing slightly weak today. The part is rated for 45mfd +-5%. Current reading is 42.3, below operating window. Customer approved warranty repair, repair made.
Emailed proposal to replace unit and duct. Customer is getting multiple quotes and we are the 1st.
Tech performed ESA on 1 system. Tech found compressor megohming in yellow (caution phase) between 40-100. Tech ohmed compressor and ohm readings were accurate. Tech informed homeowner of Megohm readings and recommended having hard start kit installed (system is 8 years old). Homeowner wants to talk with husband before making any decisions, tech built estimate and emailed to customer. Tech found no other challenges or concerns with system/operations of system, Delta T sitting at 19 degrees, system is operating properly upon departure. Homeowner has Honeywell focus pro thermostat.
Tech performed maintenance per service agreement. Tech found no challenges at today’s visit. Tech left one 20 x 20 filter with homeowner but tech did not have a second one. homeowner would like to have an extra filter dropped off on next visit. Tech found blown UV bulb, but homeowner was not interested in replacing at this time. Tech has attached estimate for future consideration. System is operating properly at this time.
Tech found compressor running but condenser fan Blade stuck on the unit. Tech found a loose set screw and blade fell all the way down on the shaft. Tech realigned blade on shaft and found fan running without hitting. Unit is running properly at this time, but tech informed customer of age and equipment. Components may fail at any time. 19 year old equipment.
